Who we are
Recovery Room Physio was founded by Dr. Josh Ray, a Physical Therapist and Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist with expertise in endurance sports and performance rehabilitation. Dr. Josh is devoted to clinical excellence by completing an Orthopedic Residency at Prisma Health, guest lecturing for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and obtaining further certifications in Dry Needling with the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy and in Golf Performance with the Titleist Performance Institute — All to help his patients get better faster.
At Recovery Room, we believe you deserve better than a one-size-fits-all approach to rehabilitation. Generic programs might work for the average person, but active individuals and athletes require a more nuanced approach. You deserve the best. This means one-on-one, individualized care from a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Every time. At Recovery Room, we take a performance-driven approach combining movement analysis, hands-on treatment, and targeted strength and mobility training to help you recover fully and prevent future injuries. This is Physical Therapy 2.0.
Let The Recovery Room be your partner in resilience—helping you recover today, so you’re ready to chase new goals tomorrow.
Letter from the founder:
Recovery Room Physio began with a simple vision: to deliver patient-centered and individualized Physical Therapy to active adults, to fitness athletes, to runners, to cyclists, to golfers so they can recover faster from set-backs and rebuild the strength and mobility required to live your life to the fullest. As an athlete and exercise enthusiast, I understand the frustration of being sidelined due to injury and how essential it is to recover quickly and completely to get back to doing what you love. Recovery Room was born out of a passion for helping athletes recover well, stay strong, resilient, and ready for whatever challenge lies ahead.
Move well. Move often. Move pain-free.

FAQs
What sets Recovery Room Physio apart from traditional Physical Therapy?
Recovery Room Physio provides quality one-on-one sessions with the Doctor who is an expert in your specific activity or sport. Some physical therapy clinics may rely on assistive personnel and cannot offer the undivided attention of one Physical Therapist for the duration of your visit.
We create a plan for your specific goals. This plan will not only calm down your pain, but solve the problem at its root, and reload your body for peak performance in competition and play.
Do I need a Physician Referral for Physical Therapy?
NO. In South Carolina, direct access laws allow you to get evaluated and treated by a Physical Therapist without a referral. This means you don’t have to wait for a physician’s order before you can start taking care of your pain!
What Can I expect from a Movement Assessment?
Your movement assessment is unique to YOU. It depends on your sport or the movement you are working on. If you’re a runner, we will analyze your gait. But we will also look at your mobility or stability that may be limiting your performance on the roads or trails. If you’re a golfer, our TPI-certified golf assessment is a standardized protocol that looks at the big 12 movement patterns essential for performing your best on the course. If you’re a cyclist, we look at bike-fitting and mobility assessment to help you feel strong and comfortable in the saddle.
Does Recovery Room Physio accept my insurance?
Recovery Room Physio is an out-of-network provider. We favor out-of-network care because the most optimal treatment for your recovery and performance may not be covered by insurance, and we refuse to have insurance dictate your plan of care.
However we encourage that you contact your health insurance to understand your our of network coverage. Many insurance plans have at least some form of out-of-network coverage, especially once your deductible is met. Recovery Room Physio is happy to provide a superbill for services provided.
The real question to ask is, What is your goal? Is your goal to use your insurance? Or is your goal to get better faster? If your goal is to get BETTER and get back to your favorite activities with long-term results – You’ve come to the perfect place.
